Physical activity is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. In combination with healthy eating, it can help prevent a range of chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and stroke, which are the three leading causes of death.
Physical activity helps control weight, builds lean muscle, reduces fat, promotes strong bone, muscle and joint development and decreases the risk of obesity. Children need 60 minutes of play with moderate to vigorous activity every day to grow to a healthy weight.
• Active Families
• Active Schools
• Active Communities
We are looking for school districts, community leaders, and families to be involved in ensuring our children and our community stays healthy.
We are creating a movement that focuses on activities, not only in Downtown Pasco, but the entire Tri-Cities area that will keep our kids healthy, fit and involved.
• Play at Volunteer Park:
Once a month we will setup games, obstacle courses and activities in Volunteer Park.
• Play at the Market:
Once a month we will have kids come to the market to play 3-on-3 soccer in Peanuts Park.
• Play at Parks:
A listing of local parks with activities, hiking trails and fitness related events.
• Play with the Dust Devils/Fever:
Once a month we plan to host an opportunity for kids to train at the Dust Devils/Fever facilities.
• Eat at the Market: demonstrations about healthy eating
• Eat at the Kitchen: demonstrations about healthy cooking
• Eat Out: local restaurants participating in our “Eat Healthy Option”
This movement is geared to involve young people with our organization in a fun manner. Play Pasco is designed to involve kids in building a better community.
We are looking for support: Coaches, teachers, volunteers, sponsorship dollars, media, PR and most importantly we need you to spread the word.
